Discipline 03, Customer Data Platform

One customer profile, genuinely activatable.

The same customer exists in five different versions: website, app, point of sale, CRM, engagement tool, external files. We unify them into a single consented profile, GDPR-compatible from the point of collection, then activate it in your business tools — without duplicating your warehouse.

Three questions we get asked

Three workstreams, one profile

01
Workstream

Do you actually need a CDP?

The test comes down to four questions: volume of identifiers, channels to activate, how much autonomy the business needs, and how mature your warehouse is. Often a composable CDP is enough.

What it covers
A weighted selection grid across 32 criteria
Packaged vs composable CDP: the trade-off
Scope and target data model
The legal framing of consent
02
Workstream

How do you reconcile your identifiers?

Identity resolution is made explicit: matching rules, conflict arbitration, and a match rate tracked as a KPI rather than assumed.

What it covers
Web, app and CRM reconciliation
Retail, point-of-sale and loyalty identifiers
Documented merge and priority rules
Quality, deduplication and match-rate monitoring

How do you activate your data without going through the data team every time?

Segments are built by the business in a governed interface, and synced continuously to ad platforms and engagement tools.

What it covers
Segments and audiences the business can run itself
Reverse ETL to Meta, Google and your CRM
Computed traits: RFM, scores, lifecycle stage
An activation log, with consent respected
What does it look like in practice?

The method, in four stages

01 | SCOPE

Use-case scoping

Defining the priority use cases, roles and responsibilities, and the project governance bodies.

02 | SELECT

Choosing the solution

A weighted RFP matrix, Smart Bees field experience, vendor trials, and total cost.

03 | IMPLEMENT

Implementation

Sources added, identity resolution, segments and connectors delivered in waves.

04 | HAND OVER

Business autonomy

Architecture documentation, training, governance and a complete handover.

What our clients say

What the teams we work with say

Segment CDP audit & Didomi implementation

“Smart Bees supported us on the Segment × Didomi connection and a full CDP audit. Their expertise and tailored approach let us finish the project on a very tight deadline just as Google Consent Mode v2 landed. A responsive team from start to finish.”

FFrançoisHead of Growth · Pennylane
Collection audit & remediation — year-round engagement

“We've been working with Smart Bees for several months. They've become an extension of our own team across everything related to data collection and data more broadly. Thanks to their support, we now have a much better grasp of our own data, which makes our digital team measurably more effective.”

DDelphineOmnichannel, Data & AI Director · Aroma-Zone
Segment CDP implementation & architecture consolidation

“What really made the difference was how they teach. They managed to make genuinely technical concepts accessible to the Ornikar teams, and consolidated our architecture (Segment, Braze, Salesforce, GTM, Mixpanel). They also drive the strategic steering of the tracking roadmap, which is valuable day to day.”

What we're asked most often

Frequently asked questions

CDP or warehouse: do you have to choose?

No, they complement each other. The warehouse stays the source of truth; the CDP serves real-time activation and business autonomy.

How long to a first go-live?

Six to ten weeks depending on the number of sources and how clean your identifiers are.

How do you handle consent?

It's carried by the profile: every activation checks the authorized purpose before sending.

Are you tied to a vendor?

No. We resell no licenses and have no stake in which solution you pick.
